Future Food — Postdoc Fellowships to Young Researchers

Future Food – A Swiss Research Initiative awards up to ten postdoc fellowships each year to further expand research and education in the area of food and nutrition sciences. The fellowship provides personal research funds for three years, enabling fellows to work on their projects in a Swiss research laboratory. The total funds per fellowship may not exceed CHF390 thousand. Applicants must hold a doctorate (PhD). There is no restriction on nationality. Frankfurt School of Finance & Management — NDC Financing Fellowship Program

The Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and the African Research Impact Network offer a 12-month bilingual NDC Financing Fellowship Program (NDC – FFP) for policymakers and researchers from francophone Africa. Nationally determined contributions (NDCs) are intended reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and central to achieving the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement. Participants will learn about different ways to finance climate commitments and exchange with policy experts and researchers working in the field of NDC finance. German Academic Exchange Service — Climate Research Fellowship

ClimapAfrica supports research on climate change and possible solutions. African PhD students are invited to submit postdoctoral climate research projects to one of the following research areas: Agriculture, Climate Science, Veterinary Medicine, Biodiversity, Food Security, Marine Science, Energy, Water Resources, and Forest Sustainability, among others. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) awards fellowships of max. €10 thousand, plus a monthly allowance to cover research costs for a period of 12 to 18 months. Fellows can apply for additional funding to cover a temporary research stay in Germany (2-6 months) to work on a specific research question. The application deadline is 15 February 2021. German Academic Exchange Service — Doctoral Scholarships for Africans

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers two doctoral scholarships at the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT). The scholarships are related to the interdisciplinary research topic “Adaptation of marine socio-ecological systems to changing environments.” The scholarships will be granted for up to 4 years. Applicants need to originate from Sub-Saharan Africa and hold a university degree. The scholarship includes a monthly allowance of €1,200, plus additional travel and research allowances. African Women in Agricultural Research and Development — One Planet Fellowship

African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) invites applications for the One Planet Fellowship. The Fellowship seeks to build a network of African and European scientist leaders to help Africa’s smallholder farmers adapt to climate change. Applicants from the following Sub-Saharan African countries are eligible to apply: Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, and Zambia. Selected candidates will participate in intensive training workshops aimed at fostering leadership skills, strengthening scientific research skills including integrating gender into their research. Wallonie Bruxelles International — Excellence Scholarship Program

Wallonie Bruxelles International (WBI) offers postdoctoral scholarships through the Excellence Scholarship Program. Focus areas include life sciences, agriculture-industry, environmental technologies, and others. Applications are open to candidates of any nationality that hold a doctor higher education diploma. The deadline for applications for long term scholarships (min. 1 year) is 01 March 2021, and for short term scholarships (1-3 months) is 01 February 2021 and 01 May 2021. Find out more

Agropolis Fondation — Innovative Co-Learning for Agriculture-based Solutions

The Agropolis Fondation aims to foster new collaborations across agricultural research disciplines and/or stakeholders for co-learning (i.e., cross-learning between researchers from different disciplines, between academic and non-academic actors, or between researchers and PhD students). This call will fund the research and training needs of postdoc scientists, PhD students, young early-career scientists, and summer schools. The Agropolis Fondation intends to award two Post-doctoral Fellowships (of up to €68 thousand per project), four partial doctoral Fellowships (of up to €65 thousand per project), five young scientist research proposals (of up to €20 thousand per project), and four thematic summer or winter schools (of up to €20 thousand per project). Pathways International Conference — Salmon Community Scholarship

Pathways: Human Dimensions of Wildlife is a conference and training program designed to address human-wildlife conflict issues. The Salmon Community Scholarship offers a limited number of scholarships to attend Pathways 2021 (19-22 September, USA). The scholarship covers the full cost of registration (US$300 for students, US$550 for non-students). Applicants must demonstrate ability to cover the remainder of their costs not covered by the scholarship (lodging, travel, incidentals, etc.). The scholarship is open to individuals worldwide closely impacted by the issues of salmon recovery and the financial hardships created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Southern Africa Climate Finance Partnership — Postgraduate Scholarships Climate Finance

The Southern Africa Climate Finance Partnership (SACFP) is a knowledge sharing and capacity enhancement platform for southern African countries seeking access to international climate finance in order to mobilize investments into climate resilient development. SACFP invites postgraduate students to apply for scholarships to undertake research-based degrees focused on climate finance. Applicants must present a MSc or PhD thesis topic related to climate finance. The 2-year PhD scholarship award will be calculated based on the eligible expenses of the field of study. German Academic Exchange Service — In-Region Eastern Africa Scholarships 2021/2022

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers PhD scholarships in Agricultural Economics at 17 participating universities in 13 countries in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa. Fields of specialization covered in the program include Agricultural and Rural Development, Agricultural Policy and Trade, Environment and Natural Resource Management, and Agribusiness Management. The scholarship covers tuition, study and research allowance, food and accommodation, in-region travel, and insurance for up to a maximum of three years.
