MedPAN launches a new call for small projects to support Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Mediterranean. The grants will reinforce the management of MPAs from the perspective of integrated coastal zone management and sustainable financing. They will also promote habitat mapping and the protection of marine turtles. The eligible countries are Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, the Palestinian Territories, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Monaco, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Albania. BiodivERsA — Biodiversity and its Influence on Health
BiodivERsA announces its call on theme “Biodiversity and its Influence on Animal, Human and Plant Health”. The call aims at supporting transnational research projects jointly addressing issues at the nexus of biodiversity and animal, human and/ or plant health (including biological diversity; effects of global change factors; and biodiversity benefits). The participating countries in this call are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Switzerland. The funding requests (technical assistance) should be within a range of US$150 thousand to US$500 thousand. Proposals for loans should be within a range of US$500 thousand to US$2 million. European Commission — Solutions to Improve Health in Cities
The EC calls for visionary and integrated solutions (e.g. therapy gardens, urban living rooms, creative streets, city farms) to increase citizens’ health and well-being in cities. These solutions should address reducing the exposure to climate-related risks, pollution (including noise), and environmental stress, among other factors. The Commission accepts requests in the range of €10 million. To be eligible, consortia must comprise at least 4 cities from different Member States or Associated Countries defined in the call for proposals. The deadline for applications is 19 February 2019. Strategic Support Program for Scientific Research — Call for Research Projects in Agriculture and Health
The Strategic Support Program for Scientific Research (PASRES) of Côte d’Ivoire and the Uganda Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) launch a call for joint research projects in the fields of Agriculture and Health. Proposals for scientific research should focus on agriculture and plant health (crop diseases, livestock and fisheries) or Environment and Human Health (resilience of populations to the effects of climate change). Projects will receive US$50 thousand in funding for one year. To be eligible, research partnerships must involve researchers from both countries (one from Côte d’Ivoire and the other from Uganda).
