Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture — Seed Funding for Research and Training in Food Security

The Seed Fund for Research and Training (SFRT) is open to individuals in ASEAN member countries for competitive grants up to US$15 thousand in research and training related to agriculture and rural development. Applications are due before 01 August of each year. Link

COLEACP — Strengthening Sanitary and Phytosanitary Systems of the ACP Horticultural Sector

COLEACP is a non-profit association whose main purpose is to support the development of sustainable and competitive agriculture and agribusiness in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries. COLEACP seeks expressions of interest for “Analytical and technical information support services in crop production and crop protection to facilitate compliance of the ACP horticultural industry with the requirements of domestic and international markets.” The selected applicant will be required to cover laboratory and analytical support, and the provision of technical information and advice in crop production and crop protection in ACP horticulture. Swiss Forum for International Agricultural Research — Bridging Grants for Research Collaboration with East and Southeast Asia

The Swiss Forum for International Agricultural Research provides bridging grants to Swiss researchers for the extension of small cooperation projects (exchange grant, workshop, seed funding) with Asian partners. The call is open to all scientific disciplines and fields of research. The Fund provides a maximum of CHF 25 thousand for the preparation of a joint project proposal. The Swiss scientist is the main applicant. Collaborators must be scientists affiliated with a university or a public research institute from China, Japan, South Korea, or ASEAN member states (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam). U.S. Department of State — Young Pacific Leaders Conference 2020

The US Department of State, in partnership with Cultural Vistas, accepts applications from emerging leaders (ages 25-35) across the Pacific to attend the Young Pacific Leaders (YPL) Conference in Papua New Guinea (April 2020). The Conference will include informational sessions, skills workshops, cultural activities, and site visits to deepen participants’ capacity to address regional issues related to Education; Environment and Resource Management; Civic Leadership; and Economic and Social Development. All travel, lodging and meals will be provided to selected participants. After the YPL Conference, all YPL alumni will be eligible to compete for small grant funding to support projects in their countries. Applications are due by 03 February 2020. Find out more

ENEA Consulting — Support for Energy Initiatives in Africa and Asia

ENEA Access offers 50 to 60 days of professional consulting services on a pro-bono basis. The Energy Access Booster is open to entrepreneurs based in Sub-Saharan Africa or Asia. Activities that can be considered for ENEA’s support include feasibility studies, market and business models, implementation of pilot projects, and others. Selected entrepreneurs receive a financial contribution of up to US$ 50 thousand. Projects must clearly contribute to the reduction of poverty and/or climate change as a result of improved access to energy. ASEAN Foundation — Post-graduate Scholarship Program in Science and Technology

The Chulabhorn Graduate Institute (CGI) and the ASEAN Foundation (AF) accept applications for the Post-graduate Scholarship Program in Science and Technology 2020. Fields of study under this program are (1) Applied Biological Sciences: Environmental Health; (2) Environmental Toxicology; (3) and Chemical Biology. The scholarship will cover tuition, round trip airfare, a monthly stipend, book allowance, and health insurance, among other expenses. ETH Zurich — Seed Grants for Swiss-Asian Research Collaboration 2019

In partnership with Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), ETH Zurich promotes scientific cooperation with key institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. ETH Zurich currently calls for proposals from Swiss researchers with partners in China (incl. Hong Kong and Taiwan), Japan, South Korea, and the ASEAN region. The call is open for activities in all scientific disciplines and fields of research. The maximum grant is CHF 25 thousand for projects of up to 12 months. European Commission — European Development Fund for APC countries

The European Commission invites applications for the European Development Fund with the aim to create, develop and diffuse knowledge, technologies and innovations as powerful drivers of inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries. Under this call, the EU seeks to support research, science, technology, and innovation proposals with focus on sustainable development and poverty reduction. The overall goal is to create an inclusive environment for Research and Innovation in ACP countries. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between €4 million and €4.2 million. Denmark Ministry of Foreign Affairs — Mobility Grants for Research with Danish Partners

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Denmark provides grants for development research as part of Denmark’s international development cooperation. The MFA invites applications for individual Danida Mobility Grants to facilitate research stays in Denmark by researchers from the following countries: Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Colombia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Mexico, Myanmar, South Africa, Turkey, or Vietnam. ASEAN Foundation — FutureReady ASEAN Competition

Future Ready ASEAN is an online platform with learning tracks to foster digital skills, in particular computer science. The FutureReady ASEAN Competition invites ASEAN youth to develop a blog site on a pressing challenge in the ASEAN region across one of the four following sub-themes: Agriculture, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Water.
