IHE Delft Institute for Water Education — Short Courses

IHE Delft offers a variety of short and specialized courses which are aimed at mid-career professionals and senior experts. Courses focus on water and environmental law, water conflict analysis, water resources planning, and many other water related fields. Fieldwork, excursions and field visits often are a part of a short course. A small number of scholarships (Orange Knowledge Scholarships, WWF Professional Development Grants, and MENA Scholarship Program), each with a different deadline, are available to deserving candidates. Techstars — Global Accelerator Program for Entrepreneurs

Techstars provides funding and mentorship programs for entrepreneurs. Techstars Impact Accelerator is for for-profit founders building tech to solve social & environmental problems. Programs include Techstars Farm to Fork Accelerator focusing on the tech/digital side of food and agriculture, and Techstars Sustainability Accelerator for entrepreneurs with commercially viable technologies that can rapidly scale to help sustainably provide food and water and address global issues like climate change, among many others. Earth Journalism Network — Ocean Story Grants 2021

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to support the production of investigative stories that will call attention to critical ocean issues. ENJ welcomes story ideas that will investigate threats to the conservation or sustainable use of the oceans, including marine pollution, ocean acidification and overfishing. ENJ expects to award 4-6 grants ranging from US$1,000 to US$2,000. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) and other expert media practitioners with experience in investigative reporting and covering environmental issues. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations — International Innovation Award for Sustainable Food and Agriculture

FAO and the Federal Government of Switzerland invite applications for the International Innovation Award for Sustainable Agriculture on the theme ‘Innovation to transform food systems’. Individuals, private companies and institutions worldwide may submit agricultural innovations (digital innovation, products, or practices) that contribute to the environmental, economic and social dimensions of sustainable development. The innovation award is divided in two categories: Category A (US$ 30 thousand) for excellence in digitization and innovation for sustainable food systems; Category B (US$ 30 thousand) recognizes an innovation that specifically empowers youth (under 35) in sustainable food systems. Wellcome Trust — International Training Fellowships

The Wellcome Trust offers nationals of low- and middle-income countries the opportunity to receive training at postgraduate or postdoctoral level. The Trust considers research proposals with focus on a health priority in a low- or middle-income country, which includes exploring the harmful effects of climate change on health. The funding is between £150 thousand and £300 thousand for salary, fees and research expenses. Eligibility extends to early-career researchers with a PhD and clinically qualified doctors with some research experience. Applications must be submitted by 07 April 2021. Click here

Wellcome Trust — International Master’s Fellowships

The Wellcome Trust offers nationals of low- and middle-income countries the opportunity to receive training at Master’s degree level. The Trust considers research proposals with focus on a health priority in a low- or middle-income country, which includes exploring the harmful effects of climate change on health. A Master’s Fellowship is for 30 months and provides £120 thousand for salary, studentship stipend, fees, travel, and research expenses. Applications must be submitted by 13 April 2021. European Commission — WASH Services for All

The EU-WOP program funds sanitation-focused Water Operators’ Partnerships (WOPs) nonprofit partnerships between at least two water/sanitation service providers aiming to increase access and to improve drinking water sources and/or sanitation in vulnerable communities. The overall objective is to contribute to SDG 6: Improved availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. Up to 30 projects of 36 months’ duration will receive grant funding of between US$250 thousand and US$ 450 thousand (in addition to cash or in-kind counterpart contributions). To be eligible, the Lead Partner must be a water/sanitation service provider registered and operating in a European or DCI-approved country. UAE Water Aid — Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award

UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia) invites nominations for the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award. The award supports research and development of new and innovative technologies that produce, distribute, and purify water using renewable energy to support poverty- and disaster-stricken communities worldwide. Prizes vary according to category from US$20 thousand to US$150 thousand. Suqia invites corporations, research centers, institutions, innovators and youth from around the world, whose novel technologies provide solutions to the challenges of water scarcity, to participate in the awards. French Ministry of Research and Education — Supporting International Young Scientists in Marine Sciences

LabexMER is a program of France’s Ministry of Research and Education to address key questions about the global ocean, the deep ocean, and the coastal ocean. LabexMER offers four two-year postdoctoral fellowships for international young scientists to propose research projects in marine sciences to be carried out in one or several LabexMER laboratories in western France. Fellows will receive an annual salary of €37 thousand and support to cover travel expenses, equipment and supplies (€5 thousand per year). The deadline for applications is 30 April 2021. Initiative for Climate Action Transparency — Support for Climate Action

The Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) aims to help countries better assess the impacts of their climate policies and actions. ICAT delivers hands-on support via short, agile projects to governments and provides tailored support to develop effective transparency systems. Country support is delivered through focused and time-bound (12 to 18 months) projects with resources provided for work by national experts or expert institutions, training activities, stakeholder workshops and international expert advice.
