Priority for this RFP will be given to projects led by journalists and storytellers from countries within the Amazon River basin, Congo River basin, and rainforests in Southeast Asia. U.S. Agency for International Development — Development of Food Security Activities in Ethiopia
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for funding for the development of food security activities in Ethiopia. USAID plans to award up to four cooperative agreements with the goal to improve food security of vulnerable households in targeted communities, contributing to a sustained reduction in rural poverty. WASCAL — Master’s Program on Climate Change and Marine Sciences
The Technical University of Atlantic (Cabo Verde) seeks applications for its Master’s Program on Climate Change and Marine Sciences (MP-CCMS). The West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) offers scholarships to African MSc students. The program includes English language training for participants from Francophone countries, three semesters of joint Master’s courses, shipboard training, and a scientific trip to a German partner institution. United Nations — Agri-Food Value Chains for Mountain Communities
The Mountain Innovation Program aims to improve the lives of mountain communities and protecting mountain environments around the world. The current opportunity calls for projects that focus on techniques to leverage resources and increase the resilience of mountain communities through the enhancement of agriculture-food value in Guatemala, Rwanda, Papua New Guinea, Lesotho, and Nepal. Only entities working with local civil society organizations and/or community-based organizations in priority countries are eligible to apply. The UNCDF “Fond des Energies Renouvelables pour la Résilience du Burkina Faso” (FERR-BF) supports projects that accelerate the growth of income-generating activities by adopting renewable energy solutions. The Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme is a joint program coordinated by the EC with the African Union Commission to increase the availability of qualified high-level professionals in Africa. The program enables post-graduate students, academics, and university staff to benefit from the experience gained in the context of mobility to another African country. Applications are invited from African higher education institutions, working in coordination with one EU technical partner. European Commission — Supporting CSOs to achieve the SDGs
The European Commission seeks to support civil society organizations as actors of governance in order to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The EC will provide financial assistance to inequality initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. Each region has specifically defined program priorities, including income and wealth inequality, land rights, access to natural resources such as water for agriculture. Any requested contribution under this call for proposals must be €3.6 million. TRANSFORM — Sanitation for Underserved Urban Areas
TRANSFORM offers support to water utilities in Sub-Saharan Africa with innovative ideas and WASH solutions that meet the sanitation needs of underserved consumers in urban areas. Two successful projects will receive up to £250 thousand in funding, in addition to in-kind support over a 12-18 month period. Joint applications from NGOs, academics, consultants, and funders based in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe are encouraged.
