The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) seek innovations that have to potential to overcome challenges in agriculture, agribusiness and aquaculture. The AgriHack Lab aims to address the limited support for upscaling the use of novel and existing ICT platforms/applications or developing prototypes for farmers (especially smallholders and fisheries) and small and medium enterprises. Three selected winners will receive €5 thousand to implement their solution. The competition is open to ICT experts, tech savvy young professionals, farmers and/or agri-entrepreneurs operating in Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, or Vanuatu. The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) calls for proposals to support the implementation blockchain technology to support activities and businesses in the agri-food sector in Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific countries. A maximum of six €60 thousand grants will be awarded. Private or civil society organisations, and international organisations with the necessary expertise are invited to apply. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation seeks new approaches for strategic prioritization of agricultural development policies. Proposed solutions must be relevant and applicable in Nigeria, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. Selected early-stage projects will receive US$100 thousand and have one opportunity to apply for a follow-on award of up to US$1 million. The World Bank and the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) jointly launch a Call for Proposals for a regional project for Strengthening Higher Agricultural Education for Agri-food Systems Transformation in Africa (SHAEA). The Project will support the governments of participating African countries to collectively build capacity and knowledge in selected key areas. Universities from Kenya, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique are eligible to apply if they meet the criteria detailed in the call for proposals. The BBSRC and partners announce a joint call for collaborative research proposals focussing on enhancement of agricultural data relevant to animal and plant health in India. The grants will be short-term projects of up to 18 months awarded to a maximum of £150 thousand in the UK, with matched contribution from the Indian Government’s Department for Biotechnology (DBT). AWARD is a program of two-year fellowships to strengthen the research and leadership skills of African women in agricultural sciences. The program is intended for women in the agricultural disciplines and related life sciences broadly defined. In the current call, eligibility extends to women agricultural scientists who are citizens of Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, and Togo. The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) calls for the digital registration of women-owned agribusinesses in Eastern and Southern Africa to create a agribusiness intelligence network targeting women agri-entrepreneurs. The programme initiative named VALUE4HER aims to increase incomes for women through access to markets, finance, improving knowledge and capacity. Registered agribusinesses will be eligible for management and leadership training and have a chance to apply for a competitive grant. Women-owned agribusinesses in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Eritrea, South Sudan, Djibouti, Somalia, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Botswana, Mozambique, Lesotho, Namibia, Angola, and Swaziland are eligible. The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) launches a call to support the implementation of the effective use of digital technologies for agricultural transformation in Africa. Activities financed under this Call must facilitate the use of mechanized equipment by smallholder farmers and be implemented in at least two African countries. Funding of €50 thousand is available per project. Eligibility extends to private or civil society organisations. Individuals are not eligible to apply. TWAS offers postdoc fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Malaysia) to pursue who wish to pursue advanced research in the natural sciences at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Penang, Malaysia. The duration of the fellowships is 12 months to 3 years. Subject areas range across the physical and natural sciences, including agricultural sciences.
