One Young World seeks applications for Afri-Plastics Challenge. The challenge supports the development of early-stage products, technology and/or services that encourage the reduction or elimination of plastic usage across Sub-Saharan Africa. 10 selected finalists will receive a grant of £75 thousand to support in the development and validation of their solutions. Applicants can be formally constituted and operating in Sub-Saharan Africa as either a registered business or NGO, but applications from individuals and community groups will also be accepted. United Nations — World Wildlife Day Film Showcase
The United Nations World Wildlife Day organizes an international film showcase along the theme of “Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration”. Organizers seek films that explore the threats to wild fauna and flora, their central importance for their habitats and ecosystems and for the communities who live near them, and initiatives to conserve them. Zurich University of Applied Sciences — Research Partnership Grants South Asia and Iran
The Research Partnership Grants support research projects with collaborating institutions in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The Leading House South Asia and Iran accepts grant applications solely from applicants. The Swiss applicant needs to have a proposed or an ongoing research project with an institutional partner in South Asia or Iran. The maximum grant amount per project is CHF35 thousand. Both the applicant and the partner institute abroad are required to make in-kind contributions to the proposed research project. The European Commission (EC) accepts proposals to improve food security and nutrition in African cities. Projects are expected to contribute to a shift to food security and improved nutrition in five African cities and reducing the food-system-related environmental footprint. Applicants must be established in a Member State of the European Union, countries associated with Horizon Europe, or low- and middle-income countries. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers journalists from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda reporting grants of up to US$2 thousand to produce investigative stories about illegal wildlife trade and environmental crime in East Africa. Grants are open to professional journalists and media organizations and can be used to produce stories in any of the following mediums: print, television, radio or online. The Conservation Finance Alliance (CFA) Incubator seeks to support innovative ideas and solutions to conservation finance challenges that have significant positive conservation impacts. CFA will identify and support five projects in conservation finance, including ventures that can generate a financial return and conservation finance concepts. The size of the grant is US$20 thousand. The CFA is focused on high biodiversity areas, especially Africa, but proposals are not restricted to any specific geographical region. U.S. Mission to Zimbabwe — Funding for Community Organizations
The U.S. Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Fund (SSH) announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a small, community-based development program. The program awards grants to non-profit, community-based organizations to implement short-term (12-month), small-scale (between US$2,500 and US$8,000) development projects that include significant community involvement. Priority consideration is given to income generating projects that improve basic economic or social conditions at the village level, which may include projects in sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and access to clean water and sanitation. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified organizations to implement Somalia’s Market Based Resilience for Marginalized Populations (MB-RMP) Activity. USAID intends to make one award of US$ 6.5 million to accelerate economic development of marginalized groups through rural and urban livelihood diversification. Eligibility is unrestricted. Prince Bernhard Nature Fund — Conservation of Endangered Species
The Prince Bernhard Nature Fund (PBNF) aims to save critically endangered flora and fauna in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. It gives funding preference to organizations in these regions, sometimes in partnership with parties in Europe or North America. Projects have to focus on critically endangered species on the IUCN Red List. Grants are up to €20 thousand or US$20 thousand.
