Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities EARTH Scholarship enables international research collaborations between PhD and early-career researchers and Scottish universities. The program aims to promote the role of environmental arts in addressing the climate emergency and their capacity for interdisciplinary research within STEAM contexts. The program will provide scholarships for researchers based outside the UK to come to Scotland to undertake in-person exchanges for up to 3 months in 2025. Earth Journalism Network — Infrastructure Reporting in Southeast Asia
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) accepts applications for a Journalist Fellowship that supports Infrastructure Reporting in Southeast Asia to equip early- to mid-career journalists with training, mentoring, and story grants to report on infrastructural development and its impacts on the environment and human rights. EJN expects to award 16 story grants with an average budget of US$2,000 each. Participants can be from Malaysia, Brunei, Timor Leste, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines. Italian Agency for Development Cooperation — Amazon Program
The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation announced a call for proposals to foster effective and sustainable cooperation with non-governmental organizations, with the aim of implementing concrete initiatives that contribute to strengthening local capacities and preventing deforestation and forest degradation of the Amazon Rainforest. The actions must be located in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. The approximate total amount amount is €1,5 million. To be able to opt for a subsidy, the applicant principal must be a civil society organization based in one of the eight countries of the Amazon basin or the European Union with a domicile abroad. Munich Re Foundation — RISK Award “Children and Youths”
The RISK Award seeks operational field projects in risk reduction and disaster management. The prize will provide financial support of €100 thousand to projects dedicated to increasing people’s resilience to risks and disasters, especially in developing countries. The submitted projects may emphasize the importance of children and young people as agents of change. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Conservation of Neotropical Migratory Birds 2025
The U.S. Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act sponsors an annual competitive grants program to support the conservation of neotropical migratory birds and their habitats in the USA, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. At least 75 percent of funding supports projects outside the USA. Grant requests have to be matched by partner contributions at no less than a 3-to-1 ratio. Eligibility to compete for funding is unrestricted. Applications should be submitted in English, but the program will accept accompanying versions of the application in Spanish and Portuguese. The AgriTech Hackathon and Venture Building Program seeks early-stage businesses across Africa. The program provides innovative AgriTech startups with the relevant business and product development tools required to groom their solutions to Agricultural challenges in society and attract follow-on investments. In addition to funding, the winners will receive training and mentorship. Applicants must be a legally registered company either as a business name or limited, individual teams of hackers are also encouraged to apply. Our Kids Climate — Climate Parent Fellowship
The Climate Parent Fellowship aims to support parent-led, intergenerational, and family-centered climate engagement work. Fellows receive training, mentorship, and a part-time stipend, which aims to make their climate organizing work more sustainable. The grants will range from US$15 thousand US$20 thousand. Applicants must be over 18 years old but in addition to parent-led climate organizers, the organizers consider all applicants working on intergenerational and family-friendly climate organizing. University of Chicago — Air Quality Fund
The Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC) accepts applications for the Air Quality Fund. The Fund will offer financial support to 10-15 selected groups over 18 months. They expect award amounts to be roughly US$50 thousand. The call for applications is open to governmental and non-governmental organizations of any type, including universities, non-profits, for-profits, corporates, NGOs, and CSOs. U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation — Conservation of Sea Turtles 2025
The U.S. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) requests proposals that seek to improve the recovery and conservation of sea turtle populations. The majority of projects will take place in the Western Hemisphere: leatherbacks and loggerheads in the Northwest Atlantic, and leatherbacks and hawksbills in the Eastern Pacific. In 2025, the NFWF Sea Turtles Program will also award support to permitted U.S. organizations in providing sea turtle stranding response and/or rehabilitation in the United States and U.S. Territories. The RFP will award up to US$1.5 million, however, the majority of awards will fall in the range of US$50 thousand to US$300 thousand. A minimum of a 1:1 match of cash and/or in-kind services is required. Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, government agencies, Indian tribes, educational institutions, businesses, and individuals. The deadline for pre-proposals is 10 September 2024. Africa Soft Power Project — Climate Change Photo Essay Prize
The Climate Change Photo Essay is open to young people aged 18 to 30 from Africa and its diaspora. Entrants are asked to submit a photo essay of three to five photographs that tell a cohesive story and address climate change in their communities.
