The Sustainable Fisheries Solutions and Retrieval Support Contribution Program (Ghost Gear Fund) supports actions that prevent and mitigate the risk of ghost fishing and encourage the development of sustainable fishing practices domestically (Canada) and abroad. The Ghost Gear Fund will also support fish harvesters to acquire new gear technologies to reduce the occurrence of gear loss. Typical Ghost Gear Fund contributions can be expected in the range of C$50 thousand to C$1 million. The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Mongolia. The priorities under this call include women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, and investing in the poorest and most vulnerable (which may include agriculture or aquaculture projects), as well as environment, climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management. The Agropolis Fondation seeks to promote the agro-ecological transition by funding PhD research of young scientists. The International Agricultural Education Fellowship Program (IAEFP) provides opportunities to U.S. citizens to assist developing countries in establishing school-based agricultural education and youth extension programs. Topics should promote bilateral agricultural trade and address priorities on climate smart agricultural practices. USDA anticipates issuing up to 2 awards. The MedFund provides sustainable funding for marine biodiversity conservation. MedFund launches a call for interest dedicated to support Mediterranean MPAs’ managers by funding day to day management costs of protected marine areas. The TWAS-ICCBS Postgraduate Fellowship program offers fellowships to young scientists from developing countries who wish to pursue research towards a PhD in chemical and biological sciences (including agricultural sciences). The Fellowship is granted for a maximum of 12 months. ICCBS will provide a monthly stipend to cover living costs, such as food, accommodation, and local transportation. U.S. Department of State — Built Water Storage in South Asia
The U.S. Department of State seeks organizations to build technical and policy capacity to develop and manage built water storage in the South Asian region. The project will be implemented in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Pakistan. The intended beneficiaries of this project are government officials in the targeted countries; water management, environmental and energy management, and other related professionals; faculty members and advanced students. The TWAS-NRF Doctoral Fellowships are awarded to scientists from developing countries (other than South Africa) to enable them to pursue PhD research in the natural sciences. Awarded candidates will be provided partial cost of study funding for tuition fees and accommodation. The maximum duration of the fellowship is 3 years. University St. Gallen — Consolidation Grant with Latin America
The Consolidation Grant promotes sustainable, longer-term research cooperation between Swiss and Latin American scholars. The goal is to provide financing for the organization of collective workshops, conferences, and fieldwork, as well as for the mobility of young researchers. The Leading House invites scholars from Switzerland to propose research projects in any Latin American country, involving bilateral or multilateral partnerships.
