International Foundation for the Law of the Sea – Training Program Law of the Sea

The Tribunal runs an annual capacity-building and training program on dispute settlement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The nine-month program is aimed at junior to mid-level government officials and researchers mainly from developing countries who are currently working on issues related to the law of the sea, maritime law, or dispute settlement. All participants’ costs, including travel, accommodation, medical insurance, and a monthly allowance, are covered by the Nippon Foundation. The application deadline is 31 March 2024. World Academy of Sciences — Biotechnology Research Fellowships in India

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), in partnership with India’s Department of Biotechnology, offers a fellowship program for scholars from developing countries to pursue research towards a PhD in biotechnology. The TWAS-DBT postgraduate fellowships are tenable at key biotechnology research institutions in India for a period of up to 5 years. Applicants should not be older than age 35. DBT will provide a monthly stipend to cover living costs, food, and health insurance. The application deadline is 19 March 2024. TWAS-DBT

Halcyon — Climate Fellowship

The Halcyon Climate Fellowship helps founders and entrepreneurs to address climate challenges through renewable energy, green building, agriculture, watertech, and blue economy solutions. Fellows receive expert training in Washington, DC, and critical resources to accelerate their venture. Fellows accepted into this program will receive US$10 thousand equity-free living stipend per venture. Eligibility extends to for-profit startups with scalable climate solutions from across Latin America and the Caribbean. The application deadline is 22 March 2024. Halcyon Climate Fellowship

Bayer Foundation — Women Empowerment Award

The Bayer Foundation Women Empowerment Award (WEA) recognizes women pioneering in health, nutrition, and related climate-smart solutions. Fifteen female entrepreneurs will get the chance to join the 6-month Accelerator Program and receive €25 thousand in support of their business. To qualify, applicants must center their solutions around health, nutrition, and their intersection with climate-related challenges. The award seeks to support women entrepreneurs driving impactful solutions in the Asia Pacific region, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. The application deadline is 27 March 2024. Commonwealth Scholarship Commission — Distance Learning for Masters Courses in the UK

The Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships support distance learning Master’s degree courses offered in partnership with local providers in developing countries, as well as courses delivered directly by UK universities. The available offerings include agriculture; tropical forestry; veterinary medicine; environmental management; conservation and wildlife management; risk and disaster management; and others. Eligibility for support extends to Commonwealth citizens of developing Commonwealth countries, refugees, and British-protected persons. Applicants must be permanent residents of a developing Commonwealth country and meet the entry educational requirements. The application deadline is 28 March 2024. Repsol Foundation — Energy Transition

The Repsol Foundation supports entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs that provide technological solutions to meet the challenges of the Energy Transition. The Foundation invites startups that have passed the pre-commercial phase and reached the testing phase with real customers to apply to the Entrepreneurs Fund. The Fund provides financial aid of up to €120 thousand and mentorship from former Repsol employees for one year. Repsol invites startups from the European Economic Area, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom. The program supports industrial technology solutions in low-carbon energy technologies, biotechnology, renewable energies, and natural solutions for reducing the carbon footprint. One Young World — Scholarships to Participate in the One Young World Summit 2024

The One Young World Summit brings together young talents (ages 18-30) from many nationalities to share solutions addressing the world’s pressing issues. To ensure that the most qualified young leaders participate in the Summit, regardless of their ability to pay, fully-funded scholarships are awarded. Each scholarship has its own deadlines and eligibility criteria, please check carefully. More scholarships will become available in the next couple of months. One Young World Scholarships

Rainforest Trust — Creating New Protected Areas

The Rainforest Trust partners with local conservation organizations to create new protected areas and expand existing ones for Critically Endangered and Endangered species. The Initiative invites applications for conservation partnerships from nonprofit entities and NGOs for projects in tropical Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Applying organizations may submit proposals for either a land purchase or a protected area designation. Applications to create new protected areas are reviewed three times per year. The application deadlines are 01 March, 01 June, and 01 November 2024. Applications for less than US$250 thousand may be submitted on a rolling basis throughout the year. Link

Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Laos

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Laos. The priorities under this call include women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, and investing in the poorest and most vulnerable (which may include agriculture or aquaculture projects), as well as environment, climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management. The average contribution is C$15 thousand to C$30 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions.
