The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) is an international initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve access to clean and affordable energy, and increase local renewable resources within the energy mix. The initiative was conceived at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in 2002.

REEP assists governments to create favorable regulatory and policy frameworks for energy, and it promotes innovative finance and business models in the private sector. Thematic interests include the following:

  • Climate change and carbon offsets;
  • Energy security and access for the world’s economically poor;
  • Renewable energies and energy efficiency;
  • Energy policy, law, and standards;
  • Capacity building in energy technology, policy, and management;
  • Corporate social responsibility on issues of energy use; and
  • International cooperation to set the legal, policy, trade, and finance agendas for sustainable energy.

Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources

Renewable energy and energy efficiency. REEEP funds entrepreneurial projects for clean energy; supports business training, mentoring and best-practices in energy projects and markets; promotes improved energy laws, policies, standards, and regulations; and offers tools and support for knowledge sharing about clean energy.

Activities supported by REEEP are carried out by a wide range of partners in government, business and finance, international organizations, academia, and civil society.
