The Overbrook Foundation strives to improve the lives of people by supporting projects that protect human and civil rights; advance the self-sufficiency and well being of individuals and their communities; and conserve the natural environment.
Overbrook has two program areas: Environment; and Human Rights.
The environment program makes grants in the USA and in Latin America. Grants in the USA emphasize sustainable production and consumption. Grants in Latin America emphasize biodiversity conservation integrated with community development.
Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources
Grants for biodiversity conservation in Latin America. Overbrook makes grants to support biodiversity conservation in Latin America. Projects include protection of indigenous lands; community forest governance and management; promotion of markets for environmental services; support for agroforestry production; and other themes. The geographical emphasis is Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico, and (in certain cases) other parts of Mesoamerica.
Overbrook makes grants to nonprofit conservation organizations in the USA, and to nonprofit organizations in Latin America that have equivalent tax-exempt status.
Most grants range from US$20 thousand to US$100 thousand.
About support for biodiversity conservation
APPLICATION: Currently, the Overbrook Foundation does not accept unsolicited requests for support from organizations not currently funded, however, the Foundation is eager to hear from organizations working in human rights and the environment.
