The Ekhaga Foundation (Ekhagastiftelsen) supports research in ecological agriculture and biological medicine.
Gösta Videgård, founder of Ekhaga in 1944, believed strongly in natural methods of agriculture and in natural medicines for preventing and treating illnesses. The Foundation supports continuing exploration of these themes in Sweden and internationally.
Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources
1 — Ecological Agriculture. The Foundation supports research in organic agriculture to replace chemicals with ecological and biological measures of promoting production. It also funds research on the use of natural technology to prepare and store food products.
2 — Biological Medicine. Areas of interest include microbial ecology; crop micro-nutrients as a factor in human health; herbal medicine; and other research linking human health with the biology of soils and plants.
Eligibility for grants extends to individuals and organizations in any country. There is no minimum or maximum grant size. Most grants range from 200 thousand to 1.5 million Swedish kronor.
About programs
APPLICATION (for 1-2 preceding): Applicants prepare and submit an application form for the current year.
As a supplement to the form, applicants write a project description which explains the problem to be addressed; present knowledge; project goals; methods proposed; itemized budget; and background data. Applicants state their qualifications and provide references.
Completed applications are mailed to Ekhaga’s postal address before the annual deadline.
