The Saint Andrews Prize for the Environment makes cash prizes for significant contributions to environmental conservation, with emphasis on grassroots initiatives in developing countries. The Prize is an initiative by the University of St Andrews in Scotland and the international energy company, ConocoPhillips.
The Prize calls attention to ideas and projects that are practical, rely on good science, reflect economic reality, are politically acceptable, and that have the potential for wider application.

St Andrews Prize for the Environment. The interests of the St. Andrews Prize are wide, including the following examples (but not limited to them):
- Biodiversity
- Sustainable development
- Urban regeneration
- Recycling
- Health and environmental health
- Waste, water and sanitation issues
- Renewable energy
- Wildlife conservation including reducing animal-human conflict
- Land use and maintenance
Most previous Prize finalists and winners are individuals, NGOs, and enterprises engaged in issues of conservation, energy, and development in the developing countries.
The first prize is US$100 thousand. Two runners-up each receive US$25 thousand.
APPLICATION: The competition for the St Andrews Prize is scheduled on an annual cycle.
Submissions to compete for the Prize are made in two stages. The website for the Prize posts the calendar date for submitting project summaries.
Successful applicants from the first stage are invited to enter the second stage. This requires a longer and more detailed project description.
