American Association of Zoo Veterinarians – International Grants for Conference Participation 2023

The American Association of Zoo Veterinarians (AAZV) provides financial aid to zoo and wildlife veterinarians from outside of the USA to participate in the AAZV’s annual conferences. Preference is given to applicants from developing countries with demonstrable financial needs and focused educational/ conservation goals. Grants are normally up to US$2 thousand. Australian Center for International Agricultural Research — John Allwright Fellowship

ACIAR awards the John Allwright Fellowship for university postgraduate studies in Australia. In 2024, ACIAR focusses the program on applications from partner countries in the African region, South Asia, East and Southeast Asia and the Pacific region. Each awardee pursues research at an Australian tertiary institution relevant to the project in which the awardee is engaged. The deadline for applications is 01 May 2023. Link

Regional Studies Association — Research Grant

The Regional Studies Association (RSA) supports outstanding individual researchers on topics related to regional studies and regional science. Individuals can apply for up to £5 thousand for projects of up to 18 months in duration. Please note that applicants have to be RSA members (non-members may apply and join RSA at the same time). Regional Studies Association — Early-Career Grant

The Regional Studies Association (RSA) covers issues in the fields of climate change, energy, migration, and economic development. RSA makes grants to early-career researchers in support of their regional studies and/or regional science research. Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences — International Awards for Young Agricultural Researchers 2023

The Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan make research awards in agriculture. Up to three young agricultural researchers with outstanding research proposals in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and related themes will receive US$5 thousand each to further their research. Applicants must be nationals of a developing country, and belong to a non-Japanese research institute or a non-Japanese university. Candidates need to be younger than age 40 to be eligible. World Food Prize Foundation — Borlaug Award for Field Research 2023

The World Food Prize Foundation invites nominations for the Norman Borlaug Award for Field Research. The Award (US$10 thousand) recognizes science-based achievement in international agriculture and food production by an individual under the age of 40. The award will honor an individual who is working closely “in the field” with farmers, animal herders, fishers or others in rural communities. The deadline for nominations is 15 June 2023. Global Biodiversity Information Facility — Young Researchers Award 2023

The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) invites proposals for the Young Researchers Award to foster innovative research and discovery in biodiversity informatics. GBIF will present awards of €5 thousand each to one master’s student and one doctoral student. Students must apply through and be nominated by a Head of Delegation of a GBIF participant country. The deadline for nominations is 19 June 2023, although some GBIF national delegations are likely to set earlier deadlines. GBIF Young Researchers Award

BBVA Foundation — Awards in Frontiers of Knowledge, Nominations 2023

The BBVA Foundation annually makes awards to recognize innovative and fundamental advances in science, culture, and collaboration. Thematic areas include ecology and conservation biology; climate change; and development cooperation (among others). In each prize category, BBVA awards €400 thousand plus a diploma and commemorative artwork. The awards are open to individuals and organizations of any nationality. Urgent Action Fund Africa — Rapid Response Fund for African Women

Urgent Action Fund Africa (UAF-Africa) is a rapid response fund to offer financial and technical resources at critical moments of need to African women’s organizations and women’s rights activists. Grants are made in five categories, including one category on natural resources governance & climate change. The Fund aims to respond to most urgent requests within 24 hours. Indo-German Science & Technology Center — Women Involvement in Science and Engineering Research

The Indo-German Science & Technology Center (IGSTC) invites applications from women researchers in India/Germany to participate and collaborate in an ongoing Research and Development project. Women researchers and entrepreneurs holding a regular position in academic research institutions in India and Germany may apply. The grant will cover basic project assistance.
