International Conservation Fund of Canada — Partnerships in Tropical Conservation
The International Conservation Fund of Canada (ICFC) works to conserve nature in the tropics and other priority areas worldwide. ICFC does not offer grants or donations. However, it invites proposals for conservation projects, either at the idea stage or as developed proposals. ICFC generally works with local partner NGOs, who carry out project activities through an agency agreement. Additionally, ICFC sometimes collaborates with peer international conservation organizations, especially on land acquisitions. Potential partners should consult ICFC’s eligibility checklist. Global Innovation Fund — Social Innovations for the Developing World
The Global Innovation Fund (GIF) welcomes proposals of innovative and cost-effective solutions that address any major development challenge (including energy, water access, agriculture and fisheries) in any country or in multiple countries of the developing world. The program is open to teams and coalitions from social enterprises, for-profit companies, NGOs, government agencies, international organizations, and researchers anywhere in the world. GIF offers grants, loans, and equity investments ranging from US$230 thousand to US$15 million. OPEC Fund for International Development — Grants
The OPEC Fund provides financial assistance to developing countries, particularly low-income countries, in support of their economic and social development efforts. OPEC will consider requests for (i) grants for country-specific activities and projects; (ii) grants for special development initiatives of global or regional scope; and (iii) emergency aid. In the past, the OPEC Fund has financed projects in agriculture, energy, health, transportation and water and sanitation sectors. The amount of the contribution will vary according to the scope and the nature of the proposed activity. However, with the exception of emergency aid and small grants in amounts of up to US$100 thousand, OPEC’s contribution should not exceed 50% of the total cost. Eligible partners are any government or non-government entity, including co-financing partners, private sector entities, research entities, UN agencies and international NGOs. There is no deadline. Union for the Mediterranean — Project Implementation Support
The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) does not fund the implementation of the projects but it assists project development, the search for financial resources, and the search for political and technical support needed for project implementation. UfM promotes a wide range of projects in the Mediterranean region in subject areas that include energy and climate, water, environment, blue economy, and several others. Research Council of Norway — Funding for Research Stays in Norway
The Research Council of Norway funds researchers from other countries to carry out a research stay at a Norwegian research organization. Research stays can last up to 12 months. The support under this call applies across multiple activities, including climate change, sustainable energy, or ocean research. Nestlé Foundation — Human Nutrition in Developing Countries
The Nestlé Foundation supports research in human nutrition in low-income and lower middle-income countries. In relation to agriculture, the Foundation will consider research on food policy, food production, and food technology if the intervention has high potential for improved nutritional status and public health. The Foundation offers training grants, pilot grants, and full project grants. Priority is for proposals submitted by researchers in developing countries, or jointly with partners in developed countries. Letters of intent can be submitted at any time. Link
Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development — Development Projects in Arab Countries
The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) finances development projects in countries of the League of Arab States. Grants can be used for technical and economic feasibility studies; or seminars and conferences. Thematic areas include agriculture and dry lands, water supply, environment, and many others. Grant size varies from less than US$20 thousand to over US$10 million. Grants are made to governmental organizations, NGOs, and civil society organizations. There is no application deadline.
