European Commission Erasmus Mundus — International Masters Degree in Environment 2023-2025

MESPOM is a two-year Erasmus Mundus masters course in environmental sciences, policy, and management operated by four European and two North American universities. MESPOM invites applications from all countries. MESPOM aims to prepare students for identifying and implementing solutions to complex environmental sustainability challenges, especially in an international context. Graduates receive MSc degrees from the Central European University, Lund University, and the University of Manchester. The program offers several forms of financial assistance, including tuition fee waivers and living stipends. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in Madagascar and the Indian Ocean Islands

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) seeks to empower communities and civil society in Madagascar and the Indian Ocean Islands to implement actions to improve the resilience of species, ecosystems and human populations to climate changes. CEPF intends to make small grants of up to US$50 thousand in support of conservation actions, including agroforestry, “climate smart agriculture,” eradication of invasive alien species, and landscape restoration. Eligibility for grants extends to NGOs, community groups, private enterprises, universities, and other civil society applicants. The closing date for letters of inquiry is 02 February 2023. Letten Foundation — Prize for Young Researchers

The Letten Prize is an international prize for young researchers (under the age of 45) that conduct research aimed at addressing global challenges within the fields of health, development, environment and equality in all aspects of human life. The winner is awarded 2,5 million NOK (ca. US$235 thousand) to be used for research activities. The prize is open to researchers from all around the world. Royal Geographical Society — Grants with Deadlines in January-February 2023

The RGS-IBG offers a number of grants for graduate and post-graduate geography research in an international context. Grants range from £250 to £30 thousand. Many awards are restricted to nationals of the UK and EU, and/or students at UK universities. The application deadline for the Frederick Soddy Schools Award is 18 January 2023. The Small Research Grants, the Henrietta Hutton Research Grant, the Monica Cole Research Grants, and the Frederick Soddy Postgraduate Award close on 03 February 2023. The Geographical Fieldwork Grants and the Innovative Geography Teaching Grants have the application deadline of 15 February 2023. Global Water Intelligence — Global Water Awards 2023

Nominations are open for the annual Global Water Awards 2023. Global Water Intelligence seeks technologies, plants, projects, and companies that make significant contributions to the development of the water sector. Focus areas include water or wastewater treatment, water conservation and management, ecologically sustainable industry technologies, and commercial solutions, among others. African Bird Club — Conservation and Expedition Awards

The ABC Conservation Awards (up to £3 thousand) support small and medium-sized bird conservation projects in Africa. Applicants should normally be resident in Africa. The ABC Expedition Awards (up to £5 thousand) take place within continental Africa or adjacent islands, with a strong base in conservation and birds. Applications are reviewed multiple times a year, with deadlines at the end of February, June, and October. Link

Waterloo Foundation — Environment Fund: Marine Resources

The Waterloo Foundation manages an Environment Fund that supports projects to manage and conserve marine resources. Applications are invited from UK charities in partnerships with local organizations in the developing world, and from non-UK organizations that can provide suitable references in the UK. The majority of grants range from £50 thousand to £100 thousand for projects of up to three years. Application deadlines are 01 March and 01 September each year. About the Marine Fund

World Academy of Sciences — Postdoctoral Fellowships for Early-Career Researchers

In partnership with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), TWAS invites early-career researchers from 21 Least Developed Member Countries to apply to the IsDB-TWAS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. The fellowship will support research related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, providing recipients with high-level training in areas relevant to sustainability science. The program will provide a standard monthly allowance which should be used to cover living costs, such as accommodation and food. The deadline for receiving applications is 06 March 2023. Know more

International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology — Research Fellowships 2023

The Arturo Falaschi Fellowships Program offers long and short-term fellowships to assist in the training of scientists from ICGEB’s member states, including many developing countries. The fellowships are for research at collaborating universities in the UK, Italy, India, and South Africa. For short-term PhD fellowships, the application deadline is 31 March and 31 September 2023. Marine Mammal Commission — Grants to Protect Marine Mammals 2023

The Marine Mammal Commission invites worldwide proposals on community-driven conservation approaches to eliminate, manage, or mitigate threats to marine mammals. The Commission supports projects on any subject in support of marine mammal conservation, protection, research, and management. All projects must include an outreach, communication, or engagement component that furthers marine mammal conservation or management efforts. Funding requests are limited to US$35 thousand.
