Green Alley — Green Alley Award 2022

The Green Alley Award is an annual European prize for start-ups and entrepreneurs in the green economy. The award program focuses on business ideas that help build a circular economy and improve the waste and recycling industry. The contest finalists will be invited to Berlin to compete for a cash prize of €25 thousand, working space in Berlin for six months, and opportunities to raise additional funding. The submitted ideas must be relevant for Europe and focus on reducing, reusing, recycling, or transforming waste. The application deadline is 21 November 2022. Green Alley Award

Biodiversa+ — Monitoring of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Change

Biodiversa+ launches a joint call for transnational research proposals on the topic “Improved transnational monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem change for science and society” (BiodivMon). The call is focused on creating a bridge between science, policy and practice to make nature-based solutions a reality. BiodivMon will support research projects with strong transnational cooperation. The call is an opportunity to advance knowledge on biodiversity through monitoring, building on previous and existing efforts across Europe and beyond. Funding organizations have reserved a total amount of over €40 million for joint research projects. Research teams must form transnational research consortia with eligible partners from a minimum of 3 countries participating in the call. AstraZeneca — Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being)

The Young One World Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 seeks youth-led projects which tackle the causes of air pollution and focus on the long-term health of young people. Projects should focus on individual behavior change, new technologies, or multi-stakeholder advocacy approaches to change laws/policies. The challenge welcomes solutions from young innovators (18-30 years old). The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project startup grant and 12-months of mentorship from a team of AstraZeneca Young Health Program professionals. The application deadline is 30 November 2022. Environmental Research & Education Foundation — Sustainable Solid Waste Management Research Program

The Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF) seeks applications for the Sustainable Solid Waste Management Research Program in North America. Pre-proposals must relate to sustainable solid waste management practices in the topic areas of waste conversion to energy, biological conversion technologies, recycling, among others. Previously awarded grants have ranged from $15 thousand to over $500 thousand with an average grant size of about $160 thousand for 2 years. There are no restrictions in regards to geographic location. EREF has two deadlines per year with pre-proposals being accepted 15 days prior to the deadline date. Cambridge University — Masters in Conservation Leadership

The Cambridge Masters in Conservation Leadership invites applications for entry in 2023. The full-time masters program during one year is aimed at graduates of leadership potential with at least three to five years of experience relevant to biodiversity conservation. Erasmus Mundus Programme — Mediterranean Forestry and Natural Resources Management

The Master Degree Mediterranean Forestry and Natural Resources Management (MEDfOR) is a two-year international program in the field of Forestry and Sustainability. The MEDfOR Consortium includes seven European universities with expertise in Mediterranean forestry. The master course is open to EU and non-EU students. Scholarships to cover participation costs, travel costs and a monthly subsistence allowance will be offered by different funding agencies according to specific eligibility requirements. The program is open to candidates from all over the world, who have a bachelor degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental and Earth Sciences, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar areas. South Pole — Carbon Asset Development Program

South Pole seeks innovative start-ups and companies in sustainable technology and clean energy solutions, community water systems, and others interested in developing carbon credit projects. Successful ventures in the program will benefit from support in development, project validation and certification and carbon credits. Trust for Sustainable Living — International Schools Essay Competition

Every year, the essay competition focuses on a different global sustainability challenge. This year’s theme is Green Economy. Participating students are invited to submit one essay (in English) entitled “How can young people be better supported to thrive in green jobs?”. The Grand Prize trophy winner will receive a free international trip to a TSL Summit, including £500 spending money. Schools have to register a Teacher Champion to participate in the competition. Swiss National Science Foundation — Postdoc Mobility

Postdoc researchers who wish to pursue an academic career in Switzerland are invited to apply to the Postdoc.Mobility fellowships. The research stay enables researchers to acquire more in-depth knowledge, increases their scientific independence and enhances their research profile. The fellowships include a grant for subsistence costs, a flat-rate for travel expenses and a possible contribution to research and conference costs. The funding period is 24 months. Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bangkok — Small-Scale Local Projects in Thailand and Laos

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bangkok invites applications for small-scale development projects from organizations in Thailand or Laos. Projects and development activities in the areas of environment, agriculture, health, education, and social services are welcome. The Czech Republic will provide between CZK 200 thousand and CZK 500 thousand per project. Non-profit organizations, educational institutions, or community groups are welcome to apply.
