German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development — African-German Leadership Academy

The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) offers an innovative training program for early to mid-career professionals from Germany and African partner countries. The training aims to capacitate professionals to engage in addressing significant global challenges, such as climate change and economic disparity. Participants of the Leadership Academy must be nationals or permanent residents of Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Togo, or Zambia, and work on issues relevant for sustainable development. GreenTech — Latin America Event

Greentech Business is a platform of technological solution research with a high potential of positive impact on environmental problems. The fourth edition of GreenTech América Latina seeks innovative sustainable technologies start-ups who seek to advance towards decarbonization. By registering solutions on the platform, inventors gain global reach and visibility, and will automatically be participating in the selection process to present their company at the GreenTech América Latina 2022 event. Greater Mekong Subregion Secretariat — Agriculture and Food Security Program

The Greater Mekong Subregion Secretariat invites applications for demonstration pilots of innovative technologies to supply safe and climate-friendly agri-food products in Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam. Proposed demonstration projects should not exceed US$100 thousand. Government departments, civil society organizations, private companies, universities and research institutes can apply. The World Around — Young Climate Prize

The World Around launches an open call for applications to the Young Climate Prize. World Around seeks young people who are working on their own self-started projects that address, draw attention to or mitigate climate change in their communities. The program will provide visibility, support and mentorship for 25 of the world’s most talented and passionate climate designers. Anyone aged 13-25 from anywhere in the world can submit their work. Dierenpark Amersfoort Wildlife Fund — Nature Conservation and Species Preservation

The Dierenpark Amersfoort Wildlife Fund supports projects in nature conservation and species preservation around the world. The fund provides financial support for endangered species conservation, research for veterinary medicine or to help shelter animals. Grants usually range from €1.000 to €10 thousand. The board meets three times per year and evaluates applications on a continuous basis. The next meeting takes place in January 2023, therefore applications must be submitted before 01 November 2022. UK Government — Darwin Initiative Grants

The Darwin Initiative invites applications for proposals that deliver effective and successful biodiversity conservation as well as poverty reduction projects. Darwin Initiative Capability & Capacity projects may request between £50 thousand to £200 thousand for projects that focus on developing the capability and capacity of national and local organizations. Innovation projects ranging from £10 thousand to £200 thousand must test a novel approach that if proven could scale to deliver results for biodiversity conservation. Japan Science and Technology Agency — Research Partnership 2023

The Japan Science and Technology Agency, in collaboration with the Japan International Collaboration Agency, calls for proposals for the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS). Proposals are invited in the following research fields: environment/energy; bio-resources; and disaster prevention and mitigation. The SATREPS program provides funding of approx. ¥ 100 million per project per year. Researchers external to Japan should consult their national government agency responsible for ODA technical cooperation, the Embassy of Japan, or JICA offices in their resident countries. Commission for Environmental Cooperation — Environmental Justice and Climate Resilience

The North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) launches EJ4Climate, a grant program to support environmental justice and climate resilience for underserved, vulnerable communities, and Indigenous communities across North America (including Mexico). Possible projects under the grant program could include addressing extreme weather impacts, transitioning to clean energy and/or transportation systems, or utilizing traditional ecological knowledge to address climate change impacts. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, community-based associations, Indigenous Peoples and communities, universities, and academic and public research institutions. MedWet — World Wetlands Day

MedWet launches a call for projects to financially support actors in the realization of educational animations within the framework of the World Wetlands Day 2022. MedWet will select up to 34 projects and provide financial support of €250 for the implementation of campaigns and educational activities that highlight the importance of wetlands for humanity and the planet. This call targets actors that engage in wetland conservation in the Mediterranean region. Applications have to be submitted by 14 November 2022. Link to more information

U.S. Government — International Exchange Grant Program

The Office of Private Sector Exchange (BridgeUSA) announces an open competition for the administration of the 2023 BridgeUSA STEM Scholarship Fund. The Office plans to issue one cooperative agreement of approximately US$260 thousand to implement the program. U.S. public and private non-profit organizations may submit proposals to provide approximately 50 scholarships to foreign university students, scholars, and professionals across Africa, East Asia and Pacific, and Western Hemisphere regions. Proposals must include a focus on climate change. The closing date for applications is 14 November 2022. Details here
