Overview Principal Office: France Key Words: family agriculture, West Africa Website: Link The French Committee for International Solidarity (Comité Français pour la Solidarité Internationale - CFSI) comprises 24 French civil society organizations that work for international sustainable development. CFSI’s mission focuses on social justice to reduce poverty and inequality; economy in the service of humans; and sustainable management and sharing of natural resources. CFSI works with civil society partners in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Projects address agriculture in the fight against hunger, vocational training for younger generations, and capacity-building of local organizations. Agriculture has been a major part of CFSI’s history since its founding in 1960, and agriculture remains a current priority as defined by the program “Feed the World" (Nourrir le monde). The program makes grants for small-scale agriculture in West Africa. Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Family Farming in West Africa. Family Farming in West Africa is a partnership of CFSI with Fondation de France. The program defines the following themes for West Africa:
For one-year projects, grants range from €10 thousand to €15 thousand. For projects of up to three years, the maximum funding is €50 thousand per project. APPLICATION: Family Farming in West Africa posts an annual call for proposals on the websites of CFSI and Fondation de France. Each call presents eligibility information, guidelines, application forms, and budget forms. The organizations which submit proposals can be either African or European. Applications can be in French or English. They are submitted by email to CFSI before the calendar deadline posted in the application information. Family Farming in West Africa does not make grants for projects that solely purchase equipment. The Fondation de France is CFSI's partner for Family Farming in West Africa. The Foundation was established in 1969 to encourage private philanthropy in France. The Foundation makes grants in several program areas, mainly for France.
