The Alliance makes grants and engages key persons and organizations to address the following objectives:
Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Grants correspond to the Alliance’s three strategic initiatives, identified below. 1 -- International Mechanisms and Finance. Grants in this area fund policy development, capacity building, awareness creation, and support for international financing related to reducing greenhouse gases from deforestation and forest degradation. Many actions connect with REDD+. 2 -- National Action in Priority Countries. The Alliance’s priority countries/regions are Brazil, Mexico and Central America, Indonesia, and USA. Grants help support national and local efforts to strengthen forest governance, reduce deforestation, pay for environmental services, support rural livelihoods, and build local capacity for climate-related discussions. 3 -- Demand-Side Emission Reduction. Actions focus on sustainable development of biofuels, low-carbon growth strategies, and debate and public awareness in these issues. About the strategies and recent grants. --- Link Eligibility for grants extends to nonprofit organizations, government agencies, private enterprises, educational institutions, and other types of organizations in the priority countries and internationally. Most grants are over US$50 thousand, and several exceed US$1 million. APPLICATION (for 1-2-3 above): The Alliance posts a grant inquiry form to be submitted online or via email. The applicant fills out background information; identifies the relevant Alliance program area; requests the grant amount; describes the problem addressed, proposed activities, and intended project outcome; and lists secured and pending funding.
