The Charles A. and Anne Morrow Lindbergh Foundation was created in 1977, the 50th anniversary year of Charles Lindbergh's flight from New York to Paris.

The Foundation makes grants for projects that apply science and technology to address environmental problems related to aviation and other issues.

Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources

Research and Education to Balance Technology and Environmental Preservation. Grants are made in thematic areas of special interest to Charles and Anne Lindbergh. In addition to “green aviation,” those of particular relevance in the Terra Viva Grants Directory are:
  • Agriculture;
  • Conservation of natural resources;
  • Oceanography;
  • Waste disposal management;
  • Water resource management; and
  • Wildlife protection.
Grants are awarded to individuals. Citizens of all countries are eligible to apply for and receive grants. All grants are in amounts up to US$10,580 (a symbolic figure representing the cost of the airplane "Spirit of St. Louis" in 1927).

APPLICATION:  An application consists of a form that summarizes the project, methods, anticipated results, budget, and supporting references and materials. Each applicant selects two persons to endorse his or her application. Inquiries, applications, and the endorsements must be submitted in English.

Completed applications must be received at the Foundation’s office before a calendar date in June of the year preceding the selection of grant recipients.

The Lindbergh Foundation does not support overhead costs of organizations; fund student tuition or scholarships; or fund art projects.

Note: The Foundation will not accept new grant applications until March 2013.
