The Libya Diaspora Marketplace is sponsored by the U.S. Agency for
International Development and Western Union to support the start-up and
expansion of businesses in Libya. The program favors enterprises in
agribusiness, fisheries, livestock, tourism, environmental services, and
other productive sectors. Eligibility for grants extends to
entrepreneurs who are U.S. citizens or permanent resident members of the
Libyan diaspora community, as well as to individuals who have relevant
connections and/or experience in Libya. Grants are US$25 thousand to

The
Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture
administers the annual "Food for Progress" program. The sale of U.S.
agricultural commodities funds projects that increase agricultural
productivity in eligible developing countries (Benin, El Salvador,
Guatemala, Kenya, Malawi, Nicaragua, Philippines, Senegal, Tanzania).
Most grants are US$10 million to US$15 million. The closing date for

The International Elephant Foundation makes grants for conservation
and research of elephants. Eligibility extends to organizations and
individuals internationally -- including students, scientists, and
institutions. The current call for applications has three categories:
(i) African elephant conservation in situ; (ii) Asian elephant conservation in situ; and (iii) Ex situ
elephant conservation and research. The Foundation prefers grant
requests of less than US$10 thousand. The application deadline in all

The
Fresno Chaffee Zoo Wildlife Conservation Fund makes grants for wildlife
conservation and research that focuses on rare, threatened, and
endangered animals and their habitats. The priority is for in situ
conservation projects. Most grants range from US$1 thousand to US$2
thousand. The principal investigator must be associated with a
recognized institution. The application deadline is 01 June 2013. Link |

The Humane Earth Foundation (La Fondation pour une Terre Humaine -- FTH)
makes grants to civil society organizations in Europe for social action
to defend the natural environment, and to combat poverty and exclusion.
Most grants are to organizations in western Europe, although FTH makes a
smaller number of grants in eastern Europe and the Balkans region.
Grants are to small and medium NGOs and to other nonprofit associations
with an activist orientation. Grants do not generally exceed CHF 25

The EC will fund efforts to strengthen artisanal fisheries in
Somaliland and Puntaland, and to enhance related coastal conservation
and management. The grants will build institutional capacity in the
public and private sectors, and support small-scale artisanal fisheries.
Grants will range between €1.2 million to €3.5 million, varying by lot
and by cost shares. Eligibility for funding extends to nonprofit NGOs in
EU member states and other countries in the framework of the 10th EDF,
and to international organizations. Somali organizations can be
co-applicants and affiliated entities. Reference

The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) announce three calls for proposals
in support of energy efficiency and clean technologies. The programs
are: (i) Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR); (ii) Forest
Investment Program (FIP); and (iii) Program for Scaling Up Renewable
Energy in Low-Income Countries (SREP). Programs and projects will be
implemented through the African Development Bank, the Asian Development
Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the World Bank. Each call
for applications includes details on eligibility, the selection
process, and country information (including contacts). The application
deadline is 08 August 2013 for PPCR and FIP, and 15 August 2013 for

The Prince Bernhard Nature Fund (Netherlands) aims to help save
critically endangered flora and fauna in tropical and subtropical
regions of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. It gives funding preference
to organizations in these regions, sometimes in partnership with parties
in Europe or North America. Grants are up to €25 thousand. The
application deadlines are 01 April and 01 October each year. Link |

The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium (USA) awards grants from US$1
thousand to US$3 thousand for a variety of projects, emphasizing field
studies and cross-disciplinary approaches to conservation. There are no
restrictions by nationality or geographical region. The Fund has
supported projects in 40 countries and two oceans. The application period is 15 August 2013 through 20 October 2013. Link |

The EC's Center for the Development of Enterprise calls for proposals
from small and medium enterprises and intermediary organizations in
agro-industries and fisheries in Ghana and Nigeria. Projects of one
year should aim to improve the quality and diversity of products and
services, and/or improve the marketing and financial position of
producers. Grants will range from €50 thousand to €200 thousand,
subject to cost shares. The application deadline is 30 April 2013. Link |
