START makes grants to African scientists to conduct collaborative research and assessments of global environmental change in Africa. The priority is for understanding links between ecosystem services, agriculture, food security, and sustainable livelihoods. Proposals should be submitted by teams of three or more African scientists at the same or different institutions. Grants are up to US$45 thousand per team.
